Certified Peer Recovery Specialist (CPRS) Training
State of Virginia Peer Recovery Specialist (PRS) training is offered at our Warrior Way Wellness Center.
The VA PRS Training is a 72-hour curriculum requiring successful completion of 3 quizzes and one final exam over the course of the PRS training.
Achieving the Virginia CPRS certification is valid for application in other states, and meets the US Department of Veterans Affairs employment standards.
Requirements for the State of Virginia CPRS certification are as follows:
- 60 Hours of in-class instruction
- 12 Hours of take-home work completed by student
- Successful Completion of 3 in-course quizzes
- Successful Completion of Course Final Exam
- 500 hours of volunteer or paid experience working with Peer clientele
- High school diploma/GED
Action Planning for Prevention & Recovery (APPR) Courses
- APPR Level I Monday & Tuesday Feb 15 & 16 9am-5pm
- APPR Level II Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday Feb 22, 23, 24 9am-5pm
US DHHS SAMHSA APPR Facilitator workshops are peer-to-peer career path development programs that provide individuals with a self-management and crisis management toolbox vital to entering the civilian workforce.
All workshops focus on shared-experience led by Peer Facilitators with Level I & II US DHHS SAMHSA curriculum.
Level I: 16-Hour workshop Wellness & Resiliency for individual, couples, or families in a day or weekend retreat setting. Learning whole health wellness, resiliency, life skills, & re-building self & important relationships renewal, including communication & self-management plans.
Level II: 24-Hour Facilitator career course instruction subjects Post Traumatic Stress Injury, TBI, Grief, Forgiveness, Suicide Prevention & Domestic Violence. Further developing life and career management strategies to promote professional and personal success.
APPR Training aids in employment with many military, 1st responders, and civilian organizations including but not limited to:
- Social Services
- Mental Health Organizations
- Education Centers
- Detention Centers
